Entrainement à Zolder pour le BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team
BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team a fait sa première sortie post confinement sur le circuit de Zolder en Belgique. Objectif pour l’équipe : reprendre ses marques et travailler l’arrêt au stand.
L’équipe officielle belge BMW a choisi Zolder pour faire ses premiers tours de roues après la suspension imposée par la crise sanitaire. En l’absence d’Ilya Mikhalchik qui ne peut pas encore quitter l’Ukraine et de Markus Reiterberger, indisponible, Kenny Foray était le seul pilote du trio BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team à prendre la piste. Il a pu tester les trois S 1000 RR préparées pour les deux prochaines courses FIM EWC, les 24 Heures Motos et le Bol d ‘Or.
Cette première sortie avait aussi pour but de réunir l’équipe technique internationale du BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team. Objectif : retrouver les automatismes, améliorer les arrêts au stand et préparer les interventions d’urgence en course.
Steven Casaer, directeur technique : « Nous avons bien progressé. Nous avons essayé différentes méthodes d’arrêt pour en retenir une nettement plus efficace et plus rapide, notamment en cas de changement de freins. Pour l’instant, nous n’avons pas eu à le faire mais c’est toujours bien d’être préparé et bien habitué. Nous avons aussi fait des essais de réparation en cas de chute. Les mécanos ont bien assuré mais j’espère que nous n’aurons pas à mettre ça en œuvre. »
Kenny Foray, pilote : « C’est vraiment génial d’être à Zolder. C’était la première fois que je pouvais piloter depuis ces trois longs mois. Nous avons testé quelques pièces et en fin de journée, j’ai fait quelques tours pour le plaisir. C’était une sensation incomparable ! J’étais tellement content de travailler à nouveau avec l’équipe. J’attends avec impatience les prochains tests mi-juillet au Mans. Je veux revenir en piste dès que possible et je pense que nous sommes très bien préparés. »
Werner Daemen, team manager : « A Zolder, nous nous sommes concentrés sur les tests de nouvelles pièces et Kenny a vraiment fait du bon travail. Nous avons testé le travail d’équipe pour être toujours plus rapide. Bien sûr, nous avons suivi les nouvelles mesures de sécurité imposées par la Covid-19 pour nous y habituer pour les prochains tests et les courses. »

First roll out for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in a private test on the Circuit ZolderLast week, for the first time since the start of the corona pandemic, a scaled-down version of the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team was found at Circuit Zolder in Belgium to test a few new parts for the BMW S 1000 RR as part of a track day by the Motorsportschool Zolder. Kenny Foray came all the way from France and was looking forward to his first laps in three long months. It wasn't really an endurance test, but it was an important gathering of the team to get workflows and equipment as prepared as possible for the next big event – the 24 hours race at the Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans, France in August.Kenny Foray:“It was really great to be in Zolder. It was the first time that I had been able to ride the motorcycle in three long months. We tested a few parts and at the end of the day I did a few laps just for fun. The feeling was incomparable! I was so happy to be able to work with my team again. I am now looking forward to next test in Le Mans, mid-July. I want to get back on the racetrack as soon as possible and I think we are very well prepared. ”Werner Daemen, Team Manager:“We started testing again as a team last week. It is still difficult to travel in Europe, but it should be possible again from mid-June. We tested the teamwork and tried to get even faster. Of course, we followed the new security measures based on COVID-19, also to get used to them for the following tests and events. At Zolder we focused on testing new parts and Kenny did a really good job.
